The Naro Moru Route is the most popular and fastest route to Point Lenana, although not the most scenic. It approaches Mount Kenya from the west and is ideal for those seeking a direct challenge. The route features the famous Teleki Valley, the legendary Vertical Bog, and offers spectacular views of Batian and Nelion peaks from Mackinder’s Camp.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi through Kikuyu farmland, passing coffee and pineapple plantations. Upon reaching Naro Moru Park Gate, complete registration before starting your trek. The trail follows a broad ridge between the Northern and Southern Naro Moru valleys, winding through dense rainforest where you may spot colobus monkeys and various bird species.

The summit push begins at 2:00 AM, trekking through the cold pre-dawn hours across rocky terrain and scree slopes. Reach Point Lenana (4,985m) at sunrise for breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and, on clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro on the horizon. After celebrating your achievement and capturing photos, descend back to Mackinders for breakfast, then continue down to Met Station.
